Features Of Jakey’s Fork

Staying at the Jakey’s Fork is about unplugging from the busyness of your everyday life and reconnecting to nature, solitude, and good company. All of our amenities have been chosen with the intention of keeping things cozy and simple. You won’t find fancy gizmos and gadgets here. Just the comfort and quiet you’ve been looking for.

Bed & Linens

Although this is a historic cabin, we have taken the liberty to upgrade a few things! You’ll find the bed to be much more comfortable than what the cowboys of the past may have slept on. A queen-size mattress and fresh cotton sheets will ensure you get a great night’s sleep. Quilts, a wool blanket, and a down throw are there for chilly Wyoming nights.

Creekside dining

Whether you’re grilling up your freshly caught trout, or just enjoying a beer after a long hike, you’ll find the picnic table by the creek to be the perfect spot for your meal. With the sound of the Jakey’s Fork in the background, and the views of the Badlands in the distance, we think it doesn’t get much better! You’ll have access to a grill, a picnic table, and about 5 million stars.

Fishing & Dipping Hole

Jakey’s Fork is the Home of Fish and Dips! Some guests are interested in finding a fish for dinner, while others just want to cool off in our dipping holes! Depending on the level of the creek we have a few available to you. We recommend pulling up a chair and perhaps a cold beverage, and staying a while!

Adventure gear

For many of our guests, the main draw to the Dubois area is the access to wilderness and wildlife. Carolyn is knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and can recommend day hikes, fishing spots, and sight-seeing activities that will suit your needs. Trail maps are available for our guests to take on their adventures. We also have a collection of adventure gear available should you need it, including bear spray, and trekking poles.

Wi-Fi and Cell Service

While unplugging is nice, we know it’s not always practical. For those of you who want or need to stay connected to the modern world, we do have Wi-Fi and cell phone service at Jakey’s Fork. Maybe you’ll write the email you’ve been meaning to write, edit photos from Yellowstone, or make progress on that book you’ve been working on!

BATHROOMs

We know that some folks worry that a historic cabin could mean that an outhouse is included in the deal, so we want to assure you that’s not the case! Hot water, flushing toilets, and a beautiful claw foot tub (in the Bunkhouse Cabin) are all at your disposal when you stay at Jakey’s Fork. However, should you want to use the creek to freshen up, that’s always available, too!

And more…

Is there more we could tell you about? Sure. But part of the fun is finding out for yourself!

Staying at Jakey’s Fork is like stepping back into the real West but with a comfy bed and big bathroom! This is not your polished log cabin with cathedral ceiling. You can see where someone from a long time hewed the logs. Was it a Swedish tie hack or a jack of all trades cowboy? When they lay in their bunks, what did they dream of when they stared at the rough walls? They didn’t have the nice table or rocking chair, and they never could have ever imagined such a nice breakfast with fresh fruit and mint waiting for them in the morning. Jakey’s Fork, just steps away, is still the same. The stars are still as breathtaking—no light pollution here! A real getaway into old time Wyoming but with modern amenities.

If you are looking for a place to stay near the Tetons, look no further! Located on the bank of a river, this picturesque cabin was both cozy and quaint. We arrived mid-evening and were greeted by a handwritten welcome note and cookies. Carolyn was an amazing host and we can’t wait to go back on our next trip!”
